The Black Diamond Capitan MIPS is a comfortable climbing and mountaineering helmet built with added protection on the sides and back and with durability in mind. The added MIPS (Multidirectional Impact Protection System) system is designed to protect against the rotational motion (or kinematics) transmitted to the brain from angled impacts to the head.

Featuring a 2-piece ABS shell construction that allows for an optimised fit and dual colours, the Capitan also boasts a fusion of EPP foam and an EPS foam puck, which meets the proposed UIAA increased side and back protection requirements. The Capitan’s vents provide ample breathability when temps heat up and a low-profile suspension system dials in the fit. MIPS is also proven to reduce the rotational violence to the brain by absorbing and redirecting oblique impacts to the helmet. The integrated headlamp clips with an elastic keeper on the back secure your light so you can push through the night.
